Todos esperaban en la granja el gran acontecimiento. El nacimiento de los polluelos de mamá pata. Llevaba días empollándolos y podían llegar en cualquier momento.
El día más caluroso del verano mamá pata escuchó de repente…¡cuac, cuac! y vio al levantarse cómo uno por uno empezaban a romper el cascarón. Bueno, todos menos uno.
- ¡Eso es un huevo de pavo!, le dijo una pata vieja a mamá pata.
- No importa, le daré un poco más de calor para que salga.
Pero cuando por fin salió resultó que ser un pato totalmente diferente al resto. Era grande y feo, y no parecía un pavo. El resto de animales del corral no tardaron en fijarse en su aspecto y comenzaron a reírse de él.
- ¡Feo, feo, eres muy feo!, le cantaban
Su madre lo defendía pero pasado el tiempo ya no supo qué decir. Los patos le daban picotazos, los pavos le perseguían y las gallinas se burlaban de él. Al final su propia madre acabó convencida de que era un pato feo y tonto.
- ¡Vete, no quiero que estés aquí!
El pobre patito se sintió muy triste al oír esas palabras y escapó corriendo de allí ante el rechazo de todos.
Acabó en una ciénaga donde conoció a dos gansos silvestres que a pesar de su fealdad, quisieron ser sus amigos, pero un día aparecieron allí unos cazadores y acabaron repentinamente con ellos. De hecho, a punto estuvo el patito de correr la misma suerte de no ser porque los perros lo vieron y decidieron no morderle.
- ¡Soy tan feo que ni siquiera los perros me muerden!- pensó el pobre patito.
Continuó su viaje y acabó en la casa de una mujer anciana que vivía con un gato y una gallina. Pero como no fue capaz de poner huevos también tuvo que abandonar aquel lugar. El pobre sentía que no valía para nada.
Un atardecer de otoño estaba mirando al cielo cuando contempló una bandada de pájaros grandes que le dejó con la boca abierta. Él no lo sabía, pero no eran pájaros, sino cisnes.
- ¡Qué grandes son! ¡Y qué blancos! Sus plumas parecen nieve .
Deseó con todas sus fuerzas ser uno de ellos, pero abrió los ojos y se dio cuenta de que seguía siendo un animalucho feo.
Tras el otoño, llegó el frío invierno y el patito pasó muchas calamidades. Un día de mucho frío se metió en el estanque y se quedó helado. Gracias a que pasó por allí un campesino, rompió el frío hielo y se lo llevó a su casa el patito siguió vivo. Estando allí vio que se le acercaban unos niños y creyó que iban a hacerle daño por ser un pato tan feo, así que se asustó y causó un revuelo terrible hasta que logró escaparse de allí.
El resto del invierno fue duro para el pobre patito. Sólo, muerto de frío y a menudo muerto de hambre también. Pero a pesar de todo logró sobrevivir y por fin llegó la primavera.
Una tarde en la que el sol empezaba a calentar decidió acudir al parque para contemplar las flores, que comenzaban a llenarlo todo. Allí vio en el estanque dos de aquellos pájaros grandes y blancos y majestuosos que había visto una vez hace tiempo. Volvió a quedarse hechizado mirándolos, pero esta vez tuvo el valor de acercarse a ellos.
Voló hasta donde estaban y entonces, algo llamó su atención en su reflejo. ¿Dónde estaba la imagen del pato grande y feo que era? ¡En su lugar había un cisne! Entonces eso quería decir que… ¡se había convertido en cisne! O mejor dicho, siempre lo había sido.
Desde aquel día el patito tuvo toda la felicidad que hasta entonces la vida le había negado y aunque escuchó muchos elogios alabando su belleza, él nunca acabó de acostumbrarse.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
